UPDATE: This set of photos is also very illuminating as to the attitude and character of the President of the United States of America.
The evidence of what he is is overwhelming.

You know, you'd think that whoever gave him lessons in saluting to show up at Dover AFB would have taken the time to mention that he looks like a bit of a prat every time the national anthem is played.

::::looks up 'prat'::::
You'd think, eh?
Personally, I think that his programming reverted to an earlier version.

What with bowing to every princeling he comes into contact with, why would one expect him to be respectful of American symbols?

I don't believe, for a second, that this is merely thoughtless or accidental.
I think this is the behavior of a narcissistic adolescent who really believes that he is above this; that such niceties of protocol are for others, certainly not for HIM.
It took me a while, but I finally had an epiphany; he is ME when I was 20.
At age 20, I was in the USAF, along with some of the absolutely sharpest people you could ever hope to meet on this planet.
BUT, we managed to pull stunts that demonstrated mind-boggling immaturity and lack of judgment.
In my defense, that was when I was 20; I'd really like to believe I've moved on a bit since then.
He's in his late 40's now, but continues to behave as if he were still 20.

AIEEEEeeee!
Y'know who the best flag-saluters in my school are? The Pre-kindergarten through 1st graders.
But even the high-schoolers know better than to stand there (unless they are Jehovah's Witnesses, which makes sense).
I guess, after 4-8 years of this, they won't be bothering anymore.

The bowing thing leaves me scratching my head every time: where in the rules of protocol does it state that one head of state has to bow to another?? Did Saint Obama become a vassal of Akihito while I wasn't paying attention?
I have never seen an American president bow to a foreign head of state until this clown came along, but, what I find fascinating is that he's not consistent about it either, as it's not like he does this with every crowned head of state that he meets. I don't recall him bowing to Elizabeth II, so how does he select who deserves this special treatment?

There is another photo floating around from his visit to the Tomb, and he does indeed have his hand over his heart while others salute. I have no respect for the man, but the media posting this photo without posting the one of him saluting, is just wrong.

Leslie,
I'll see if I can find it and post an update.
I bet that admiral had to goose him to remind him.

I saw the series of bowing vs. hand-shaking earlier today. I argue with a loved one about this everytime (!) it happens. She says "protocol" and I say "1776". We fought to break the yoke of nobility, thus no American bows to a king or queen. (Just as Americans cannot accept OBE and become sirs or ladies.)

Probably mentally making love to himself and had to be stirred from his reverie. The man is too egotistical to be believed. (link stolen from S.Weasel)

It's funny, baldi. Just the other day, Sonja and I were talking with a friend of ours who is a Canadian, and when retreat started on base, we all stood facing the flag, Sonja and I with our hands over our hearts and our friend with her hands folded in front of her like the big O in these pix.

Late to the game, but I'd like to point out there is such a thing as coincidence, else we would not have a word for the event.
However, in the case of the series of Obama non-salutes, I think we may safely eliminate the probability of coincidence... :)
