One year without a cigarette.
By the way, I'll be busy again today. And as I've found out, when you leave your comment section un-moderated, some people can't resist taking advantage, so the comments are held. That means that I will allow them to post when I return to the computer.
Comment moderation is like locking your door when you're away from home to keep out those who would move into your house and take advantage. Don't think so? Check out the outrage displayed by a couple of...guests when they discovered that their nasty comments wouldn't post when they wanted them to. It's instructive of a larger mindset--let's call it a "redistributive" mindset.
Later.
UPDATE: One of the persons has apologized.
I noticed.
Leaving a mess is the nature of most guests, invited or not.
I'm sure I've been guilty of it on occasion.
Oh, and congratulations.

Congratulations!! That is huge! Keep it up, one day at a time.

Could it possibly be a case of malignant narcissism on their parts?
After all, YOU are obstructing their efforts to improve the world by shoving their wisdom down our throats.
Lady, WHAT were you thinking? :-)
BTW, in your earlier post about the closing of Tempelhof, is that you in the last photo, in the USAF uniform?
If so, I guess you discovered that the Air Force was where the smart ones went.
In my service there (more years ago than I wish to think about) I was privileged to know and work with some of the finest (and smartest) people I ever knew in my life. I've been fortunate in restoring contact with some of them recently. And they STILL fit the description I just gave.
I hope your memories are as good.
If that WAS you, you were hot then, and you are hot now.
Am I allowed to say that? :-)

Follow up:
I just rechecked the comments on the Tempelhof post and got the answer to my question.
What I said about you still stands. :-)
baldilocks sez: Thank you. :-)

I quit smoking February 1987! It was one of the best things I ever did for myself. Keep it up baldilocks!

Congratulations for having remained steadfast for a year :-). It's a good thing. Do you still feel tempted now and then?
Osas
baldilocks sez: Thank you! Yes, on odd occasions. Then I get a whiff of someone else smoking and it passes.

BIG congrats on not smoking. Cancer effects may be over-touted, but having your lungs and/or heart crap out on you from long-term usage is not touted nearly enough. Cold turkey? I have friends who've quit with gum--now they're nicorette junkies. Well, it's still not good for them, but it's still a heckuva lot less killer than smoking.

Your smoking-hack called. It wants you back.
Congrats, and as my pop would no doubt remind you "one day at a time..." He's been doing that for upwards of 30 years, so it can be done!
Cheers, ;o/

Congratulations! It gets better and better.(3 years for me) Sooner or later, you won't be jealous when you see someone smoking. hoho

I'm in awe. Every time I think about quitting, I seem to want a cigarette all that much more.
Congratulations.

"I'm in awe."
Don't be. It's not the first time I've quit nor the longest. This time I'm not doing it on my own strength.
Tully: VA quit-smoking program. Your tax dollars at work.

Congratulations! I quit many times in the past, but finally made it about a year-and-a-half ago. Feels great, doesn't it? Just walking past someone who's smoking is a nauseating expeerience now.
Hang in there, dear. The hard part is over.

My tax dollars well-spent, Juliette. Long may it last.

Congratulations! I quit in May 2000, and it has been a continual struggle, though it has gotten easier with time.

Congrats on making it this long without a cigarette, hon. :) I know it took some effort. :)

Juliette: Congratulations on your anniversary :) ! I read somewhere that, on average, it takes people about 8 tries to actually kick the habit. My dad never managed it, and I'm pretty sure it helped to do him in.
My friend Karen just celebrated her third anniversary from quitting. She says the first anniversary was the hardest one. She used LifeSign, an online program, that was really successful for her. Now she can't stand the smell of smoke - in fact it makes her ill when she smells it and she can't understand how she ever did smoke in the first place. She started when she was 15 and since she's my age ... which is pretty old ... well that's a long time, but she did it.

Hey, the head of the left-wing illuminati does it, so you should be okay. Just take your time, the need for one will go away.
