The POTUS says what all other observers have figured out: Russia wants Georgia back.

If there is no military action to defend Georgia, it's all a bunch of nothing.

What's a bunch of nothing?

Condemnation without action, when I think we all know what the action has to be; military action to defend Georgia.
For all of the diplomatic efforts going on, it's just a waste. Putin is going to do what he wants to do because he knows we won't respond in kind.
At least that's how I see it. This is a big mess. We're tied down in Afghanistan and Iraq, so Putin pulls this stunt knowing dang well we can't do squat.

I'll have to agree. I also think that all our options are bad ones.

Yep. All. Bad. Ones.

On the bright side, it's nice to see a country use it's military and political might in an effective way.
The wars in the Middle-east have been really depressing that way.

Bush must have missed the potential for this behavior "when he looked into 'Puti-puts' soul" as Bush claimed a few years back.
I guess we Americans will have to get used to a world where our ability to project force, economic standing, political capital and moral authority on human rights is treated like a joke. In previous presidencies, Dem and Repub, any of those 4 things would have been standing for the US to effect the recent events in Georgia. Unfortunatley for us George W Bush squandered in 7 years the international respect it took America a century to earn.

None of those 4 things are lacking, especially not in comparison to Russia. What is lacking is the political will to deploy any of them.

Have you been out of the US (non-war zone part) lately?
