On Friday, House Republicans staged a (protest? sit-in? rally?) in an attempt to keep the body from adjourning for its annual August recess before acting to reduce oil prices. The vote to shut the session down barely passed and Speaker Nancy Pelosi had the lights and the CSPAN cameras shut down on them but the Republicans weren't done yet.
Today, minutes ago, several of them held a press conference in which they demanded that the Speaker bring the members back to DC this week in order to get an up or down vote on an energy bill to include lifting a ban on domestic and offshore oil drilling. Some say she should do it for the children.
"We'll be here all week," says Rep. John Culberson (R-TX).
The president can order the members of the Legislative Branch back to their post for a special session if necessary.
