The folks at Daily Kos have Barack Obama’s certification of birth, which confirms that he was born in Hawaii and is, therefore, an American citizen.
Many are making a big deal about the fact that the document is a certification rather than a certificate. However, I’m looking at my own, requested thirteen years ago and it’s a certification also. But I do remember that I had to provide a copy of the actual certificate with a raised seal when I enlisted in the USAF in 1980 and remember that there were a few things about it that were different from the certification.
Looking closely at Obama's document, one can see that there’s a date on the back of it: June 6, 2007. I’m guessing that this is the date the certification was issued. Certifications are produced on demand—mine (from another state) says October 20, 1995. The dates filed, however, on both are not long after our births (his date filed: August 6, 1961; mine: September 11, 1961)
And for those who are trying to prove that Obama is illegitimate by this certification—as if it matters--because his mother’s maiden name is listed, give it up. I haven’t seen one birth certificate or certification which does not specify that the mother’s maiden name be listed.
Obama’s certification does have one curious item--under father's race appears the word ‘African.’ On my certification, no races are listed, but IIRC, on the certificate, the word ‘Negro’ appears under the race heading for both of my parents, though one is African and one is American.
I hope that we can now continue with our regularly scheduled criticizing of Obama with regard to things that actually matter and that he actually does control.

PREVIOUSLY:
I'm guessing that in Obama's case, they asked his mother and she said, "he's African," whereas with your parent's they just looked at the three of you and assumed.
At least your name is spelled right. They misspelled both me and my brother's names.

Nope. Both my first name and my surname (aka middle name) are misspelled.

I am a little put out with the people who tried to push this. I certainly don't want this liberal to be our president, it has nothing to do with his race or his legitimacy, only with his ideology. Of that, I do not approve.

Ruth, what annoys me mightily is that even debunking Obama rumors gets one accused of pushing them.

Did your Hawaian certification have a signature from a state official and a raised seal embossed on it?
Are you willing to post it?

Read the post a little more carefully, J.J. I'll answer any questions you have after that.
