Weeks ago, I lost a copy of John Bolton's Surrender Is Not an Option: Defending America at the United Nations--a copy which belongs to the Los Angeles Public Library's Robertson branch.
I wrote an email to Mr. Bolton's assistant at the American Enterprise Institute to see whether he'd be amenable to replacing the book. However, I know that there are some folks out there reading who have some acquaintance with the former ambassador and who could, perhaps, get his assistant to at least open my email--entitled "Lost Library Copy of 'Surrender is Not an Option.'"
Can't hurt to ask.
UPDATE: I got a swift reply. (Thanks.) Unless one of you fine folks does me a good deed, I'm going to query the publisher.
Check the policies of the LAPL first. Many libraries will not accept donated replacements. Others will only take them if they're the exact edition/binding being replaced, to avoid re-cataloguing.

I received an email from the librarian who said that I had to replace the book plus a five dollar fee, so I assume that means a commercial copy of the book.
