I’ll be trying my hand at live-blogging the debate just to see if I can “walk and chew gum” at the same time. No promises as to possessing that ability. :-)

More power to you. I can't watch tv and type sense at the same time, but then my computer and tv are in separate rooms.
Lots of people think LBJ said Ford couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time. What he really said was Ford was too dumb to fart and chew gum at the same time! That's pretty dumb, lol. And a lot funnier ;-)

If you can't walk and chew gum you'll end up walking on chewing gum and then you'll be stuck, right? If this is the debate thread I'd like to note Bushs blood chilling joke to the moderator, CBS's Bob Shieffer. After Kerry mentioned two media reports that conflicted with Bushs statements Bush respectfully wondered about placing your trust in media research, an clear jab at CBSs Memogate since he addressed Shieffer. The joke seemed strained because Bush didn't dare take up any time to flesh out his point, out of respect you see, lol. His remarks about 'listening" to the woman you love is about as good as relationship advice gets, guys. "Stand up straight and don't scowl" had me in stitches. The tale of his courtship of Laura had me in tears. Compare that to Kerrys all inclusive statement about himself, Bush and Shieffer "marrying up" (somewhat like his smug remarks in the second debate about the participants incomes) and his own ability to endure the emasculating barbs(he "can take it"). I don't think he considered the meanings of "marrying up" too closely and talked himself into a corner. Marrying up is always done by the weaker partner, and even though Kerry probably meant it to sound ingratiating, he did it at the others expense too. But only he "married up" to a woman after divorcing another, which accents another more cynical aspect of marrying up, that is, marrying up from a failure, let alone marrying up to higher financial assets. I don't think Bush appreciated Kerry including him in on this marital outlook.
